He specializes in corporate and group taxation, transfer pricing, European Union law and extraordinary transactions, areas in which he has developed deep and multidisciplinary expertise. He has gained significant experience assisting domestic and international clients in connection with complex tax audits, settlement procedures with the tax authorities, judicial conciliation, as well as international dispute-resolution procedures (MAP and APA). He regularly conducts litigation before the tax courts, handling cases of high technical and strategic complexity.

Carlo is an expert in corporate taxation, specializing in assistance to multinational groups. Over the years, he has participated in various M&A transactions, assisting both financial and industrial clients in the planning, negotiation and closing of the various transactions. Moreover, he has gained significant experience in the area of international taxation, including transfer pricing, as well as in assisting clients in the various stages of tax assessment.

Carlo has also specialized in tax planning in the area of wealth management and in inheritance tax planning through the main tools of trusts, simple companies, family holdings, family agreements and patrimonial funds. In this context, he has also acquired significant experience in tax legislation relating to assets held abroad, on assessments of undeclared foreign activities and in the various institutes for regularizing assets owned abroad (voluntary disclosure). He is currently a member of the board of auditors in several important industrial and financial companies.

He was a lecturer during in company training courses on VAT, Milan 2011 – 2012 – 2013; of taxation at specialization schools; of Indian taxation in courses held by Confindustria on the association in INDIA of direct and indirect taxes.

Currently, Aziz is the head of our tax practice, issuing opinions for Lebanese entities operating within Lebanon and abroad. He uses his extensive knowledge to ensure our clients retain more of their profits, structuring groups and transactions in a way that minimizes the burden of repeated taxation.

He handles and resolves bankruptcy (both creditors and debtors), regulatory, real estate and construction issues as well as sophisticated expropriations of public utilities through both litigation and alternative dispute resolution methods. He also acted as an arbitrator in numerous local and international high profile cases.

As a businessman himself, Aziz understands the need for pragmatic responsiveness in an ever-changing environment. His practical demeanor is a quality so many of his clients’ value.

Aziz’s expertise doesn’t end with law; he is actively involved in preserving Lebanese cultural heritage through many organizations. He’s also an active contributor to the Arab Center for the Development of the Rule of Law and Integrity. He’s given lectures, contributed to various publications and has been quite active in the political and business communities over the past few decades.
