<p>He started his career as a legal counsel at a reputable holding company based in Istanbul. He is the former president of Global Business Lawyers Alliance (GBL), an international network which provides legal services in 55 jurisdictions.</p>
<p>Umut’s main focus is on commercial and corporate law. He is experienced in the incorporation of the companies and partnerships, structural changes of companies such as configuration of the company, drafting articles of association (company’s constitution), internal directives, legal compliance procedures, conglomeration (company groups), mergers, acquisitions, takeovers and lifting the corporate veil. He also drafts shareholder agreements (SHA) and focuses on shareholder disputes, conflicts within the board of directors, solution of corporate crises and deadlocks, commercial conflicts, any procedures regarding the removal of directors and compensation claims. He has depth experience in convening the general assembly (shareholders meeting) of various entities such as companies, NGOs, Sports Clubs.</p>
<p>Umut is also a football referee who managed 300 games in Türkiye. He carried his interest in his professional law career by representing national athletes. He served as the President of Disciplinary Board of Göztepe Sports Club, also as an arbitrator at the Türkiye Football Federation Dispute Resolution Committee and as a member of the Club Licensing Committee. In this scope, he knows the rules within the football field and the legislation which regulates sports games. In this manner Umut has experience in the corporatization of football clubs and structuring their corporate organization.</p>
<p>Umut is one of the first licensed mediators in Türkiye. He is chairing corporate, commercial and international commercial mediation sessions. He is the spokesperson of Turkish Mediators and Mediation Centers Association (TURAMEP). He is one of the most reputable mediators in the country and internationally.</p>
<p>Umut’s opinions and experiences on law, mediation, arbitration and international legal services are frequently featured on Turkish and International media.  He has written a book entitled: “Corporate Board: Crises and Remedies” which is in on the shelves with it&#8217;s third edition in Türkiye.</p>

<p>Filiz has been actively working in field of civil law since she has started her career. Her main focus is on family and real estate law. She has experience in developing strategy upon divorce, alimony and the division of matrimonial assets cases. She drafts prenuptial and property separation agreements.</p>
<p>She has experience in drafting letter of testamentary, cancellation of will cases, action on reduction, obtaining certificates of inheritance and strategizing on the sharing of the assets within the inheritance.</p>
<p>She also deals with cases regarding the claims of compensatory or restitutionary damages arising from personal injuries or death. She also acts as a mediator on the disputes arising from medical malpractice.</p>
<p>She is also an experienced mediator. She manages sessions of voluntary and mandatory mediation on “family mediation”, “employee-employer mediation”, “division of inheritance, “elimination of joint ownership”, “inheritance” and “commercial”. She is a registered arbitrator at ISTAC (Istanbul Arbitration Center).</p>
<p>Her articles have been published in magazines such as “Gold Business” and “Anne Bebek (Mother and Baby)”. Filiz is also doing research and following courses in sociology at İstanbul University.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sami was admitted to the Beirut Bar Association in 1981 and is licensed as legal consultant by the Dubai Legal Affairs Department.</p>
<p>He has held his own practice in Lebanon under Touma Law Firm since 1994, providing a variety of public and private law-related advice in Arabic, English and French to a number of Middle Eastern and international clients, typically with a multinational and multijurisdictional dimension. His passionate, entrepreneurial drive pushed him to move the border of his legal practice to the Gulf Region and Europe, first in 2009 to Dubai, United Arab Emirates where he co-founded MEG Legal Services, and then in 2014 when he co-founded “EPTALEX” International Law Firm of which MEG Legal Services became a member firm. Thereon, he co-founded in 2022 Eptalex Law Firm LLP in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, United Arab Emirates, and in 2023 as member of the Eptalex Swiss Verein.</p>
<p>His expertise is focused in the areas of regional and local business law, communications, media and intellectual property. In particular, this experience has covered a wide range of media-related matters, such as media policy formulation, drafting of related laws and regulations, venture development and establishment, negotiation and contract development.​</p>
<p>An active player in developing media-related legislation and regulatory mechanisms in the Middle East, ​Sami has a broad overview of the media landscape in the MENA region and has been a pioneer in this area since 1985, acting as the legal counsel for the first non-governmental TV broadcaster in the region.  He has an in-depth understanding of the day-to-day functioning of the media, advertising and entertainment industries, its major stakeholders, and the latest tendencies in the industry.</p>
<p>He has developed a variety of media-related draft laws in Lebanon, including the “TV and Radio Broadcasting”, “Creation of the Audiovisual Media Union”, and “Audiovisual Media and Elections” laws, and has decades of experience in the negotiation and implementation of agreements related to production, acquisition, distribution, exploitation, media representation, artist management, entertainment, music, artistic events, sports, advertising, and intellectual property.</p>
<p>He was also appointed to review and propose modifications to the different versions of the Lebanese Copyright Law, and participated in the assessment of the BOT mobile operator’s contracts with the Lebanese government, eventually serving on the ad hoc committee designated for recommending legal and regulatory reforms for the telecommunications sector in Lebanon.</p>
<p>Sami has also advised on a variety of laws for a range of governments including the set-up of Special Economic Zones, and understands the nuances involved behind the structuring of regulatory and governmental activities.</p>
<p>Notably, he teamed with Booz &amp; Company (ME) Ltd and drafted the entire law concerning the implementation of the “Technology City-Technopolis” for the Syrian government in 2009, and assisted Booz Allen Hamilton throughout the 2010 “Suez Special Economic Zone” and 2004 “Aqaba Special Economic Zone” projects.</p>
<p>Sami was also involved in reviewing the legal framework for foreign investment in Cuba further to the adoption of the Cuban Law on Foreign Investment No. 118/2014, including supervising the preparation of the Arabic version of several laws, decrees and regulations relevant to FDI in Cuba.</p>
<p>Sami is currently a member of the “ALAI” (Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale)​ and has intervened as lecturer in numerous conferences, seminars and events organized by academic and public bodies, including:</p>

<p>Notably, he teamed with Booz &amp; Company (ME) Ltd and drafted the entire law concerning the implementation of the “Technology City-Technopolis” for the Syrian government in 2009, and assisted Booz Allen Hamilton throughout the 2010 “Suez Special Economic Zone” and 2004 “Aqaba Special Economic Zone” projects.</p>
<p>Sami was also involved in reviewing the legal framework for foreign investment in Cuba further to the adoption of the Cuban Law on Foreign Investment No. 118/2014, including supervising the preparation of the Arabic version of several laws, decrees and regulations relevant to FDI in Cuba.</p>
<p>Sami is currently a member of the “ALAI” (Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale)​ and has intervened as lecturer in numerous conferences, seminars and events organized by academic and public bodies, including:</p>

<li>World International Property Organization (WIPO).</li>
<li>The Annenberg School for Communications &amp; Markle Foundation.</li>
<li>UNESCO and IRAQI Communication and Media Commission.</li>

<p>Mohammad has acted as Director of International Relations and Director of Labor Relations (Dispute Department) at the Ministry of Labor in Abu Dhabi from 2004 to 2010.</p>
<p>Additionally, he has served as representative of the Ministry of Labour abroad on several occasions, including at the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Geneva.</p>
<p>He has advised and developed a variety of Emirati laws and legislation, including the Labor Law and it Executive Regulations, the Human Trafficking Law, and the Camel Racing Law.</p>
