Experience

Baki is in charge of developing the global MENA activities at Eptalex and a partner of Eptalex’ associated law firm Ferdowsi Legal. He was initially registered with the Brussels Bar and trained and practiced at several prominent law firms in Paris before moving in-house. He has been general counsel and legal manager of major French groups in the oil & gas, transportation and automotive industries.
Baki came to the Middle East in 2004 and spent ten years practicing in Dubai working extensively in the Oil & Gas and transportation sectors and on projects in Iran and Africa. He then joined Tehran in 2014 where he has been first in charge of launching and developing the practice of Dentons in Iran prior to founding Ferdowsi Legal. He is based in Beirut since 2019.
Baki leverages on his 25 years of experience in the legal industry including 15 years in the Middle East to advise his clients, mainly on corporate and mergers & acquisitions, distribution, energy and transportation, and dispute resolution matters (with a focus on mediation and arbitration). His recent activities cover advising several car and automotive parts manufacturers on the formation of industrial joint-ventures, food and drugs producers, logistics groups and key players of the luxury business in the Gulf and in Iran. A skilled negotiator, he has been frequently involved in complex cases linked to the reinstatement of US sanctions in Iran.
Baki is a regular writer and speaker on geopolitical and legal topics dealing with the Middle East. He has also given lectures on Middle Eastern legal issues at ISG business school in Paris.
