Experience

Aziz founded Torbey Law Firm in 1973 with a vision to provide meaningful, innovative and responsive counsel to financial institutions and companies with grand aspirations.
Since then, Aziz is a tax consultant and legal advisor to a number of financial institutions, insurance companies, public utilities, real estate projects and private corporations keeping these entities in compliance with applicable laws.
Always the epitome of a gentleman, Aziz has a persuasive yet calming demeanor which prove valuable in tense situations in either the courtroom or the boardroom.
Currently, Aziz is the head of our tax practice, issuing opinions for Lebanese entities operating within Lebanon and abroad. He uses his extensive knowledge to ensure our clients retain more of their profits, structuring groups and transactions in a way that minimizes the burden of repeated taxation.
He handles and resolves bankruptcy (both creditors and debtors), regulatory, real estate and construction issues as well as sophisticated expropriations of public utilities through both litigation and alternative dispute resolution methods. He also acted as an arbitrator in numerous local and international high profile cases.
As a businessman himself, Aziz understands the need for pragmatic responsiveness in an ever-changing environment. His practical demeanoris a quality so many of his clients’ value.
Aziz’s expertise doesn’t end with law; he is actively involved in preserving Lebanese cultural heritage through many organizations. He’s also an active contributor to the Arab Center for the Development of the Rule of Law and Integrity. He’s given lectures, contributed to various publications and has been quite active in the political and business communities over the past few decades.
Aziz joined the Beirut Bar Association in 1968.
